I stay in Paarl but was visiting the Lion Park (found about 5 minutes outside of town to the south) at the time, 25/11/2012, I spotted the objects flying in the distance.
I was standing near the tiger enclosure while I was watching some birds of prey fly overhead (the tigers were camera shy so I tried to get some shots of the birds). In the distance I noticed four or five objects flying from above the Afrikaans Language Monument (Taal Monument) and past Paarl Rock in the direction of Cape Town. The objects were slowly spinning in a spiral whilst flying in said direction. With each spin they would reflect the light (it was roughly 3pm) and be visible then fade away making it hard to track them. I took two photos using my Sony Nex C3 with a 18-55mm lens (I had zoomed in at its maximum – I don’t know if these details help at all) in the hope that I would maybe capture something. After trying and not being able to see anything on the LCD screen of the camera I realised, after scanning the skies, that the objects had gone.
The second of the two photos, taken between a half minute and minute after the first, I can’t see anything out of the ordinary. The first, however, has 3 visible objects with a definite fourth partly obscured. I think I can make out a fifth object slightly lower down but zoomed in it is unfortunately difficult to verify.
I’m not sure what to do now. I have a photo I can say with confidence that I can’t explain what the objects are. Everyone I have shown the photo to have no idea as to what they are either. What surprises most is that the objects appear to be flying in a set pattern with one out front and the other 3 forming a triangle (and if the 4th can be verified a diamond) just behind.
Are these objects soundless man-made vehicles doing who-knows-what in the Paarl area, or are they worth trying to identify as something that can be categorised as UFOs?
What do you think?
