Report:

We we looking up at the stars in where it looks like the 3 sisters. My fiance saw something very small, and round dash away, it was tiny and we lost it almost as fast as we saw it, but it was very high up and it was not a plane or a satellite.
In fact, the reason I came across your website was because, I was looking to see if anyone else saw it! 🙂

  1. Hi

    Thanks for the report.

Based on what you have reported I would say that you saw a meteor. The Orionid meteor shower peaks in October, but you likely saw a rogue meteor. Not uncommon.

I had just returned from a work site in Brakkenkuil next to Stil Baai and was parked by Sea Point facing towards Robben Island. I was watching the 3 lined up stars with a slightly dimmer one that makes all look like an upside down L and I saw what seemed like a star that came behind those three at extremely high speed, I know it was not an airplane because of its height and didn’t have smoke or sound coming from it, it seemed to be heading towards the direction of the Indian Ocean from where I was. I have call records to prove this because I called my girlfriend, brother in Joburg and friend to tell them about what I’ve just seen. I found this site because I was bothered and of the same reasons as Laura hoping someone saw what I saw…
