Dozens of shiny objects around sun’s halo.

I first noticed this phenom on April 24th.After arriving home from a half day’s work and looking skyward I noticed 3 independently moving lights that looked like daytime stars. As they moved in front of the sun I saw 5 more smaller (or more distant) lights but of course couldn’t focus due to the direct sunlight.

I put on my shades, blocked the sun with my hand and was shocked to see possibly a dozen more moving at varying speeds and all in different directions. I called the 4 family members who where at home, all brought their shades with and witnessed the same objects.
They’re most visible directly around the sun’s halo and gradually fade as they move further from it.
It’s a little troubling to me as I’ve seen them on 4 different occasions (24th and 27th April and 5th and 13th May). They fly around seemingly aimlessly for hours, mainly from around 10am to 3pm.

I’ve had previous sightings and have seen these lights at night before but never so many and not in the daytime.
I’ve ruled out planes, drones, definitely not satellites, iridium flares,Chinese lanterns or swamp gas.
Can anyone else here confirm that they see this while in JHB. I work far from JHB and haven’t seen this while at work.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Bright Orange Flashes at regular intervals

Report:

There were bright flashes of orange lights covering most of the Eastern horizon. We initially thought it to be strange lightning except for the colour.
But then we also noticed that it occurred at ten second intervals at first, then at twenty seconds afterwards. During the flashes it looked like there was something solid within the clouds where the flashes were originating from. I also captured the latter part of it on video via cellphone but this does not do it any justice.

Silent Black Triangle – Kimberley

Report:

I wen’t out of my home for a smoke at 11PM. I always look at the stars when I am outside at night. I noticed movement in the sky moving from the north. Firts I thought it was a satelite, but as I focused on the object I saw a second light moving with the first one I saw. Then I thought it was two birds flying in formation at night, but as I focused more and it came closer I noticed it was a triangle shaped object. The lights was on it’s “wing tips”. It was feint orange lights. The lights seemed to reflect light more than it emmitted the light. The craft was darker than the sky, but only just. It also reflected light as it passed overhead moving in a southernly direction. It made absolutely no noise at all and that was perhaps the most unsettling thing for me.

The sighting lasted about 10 seconds. I estimated the object to have been between 500 and 1000ft above the ground an moved at between 200 & 300kts. But this is just my estimate. It had a wingspan of maybe twice that of a Cessna C172.

I am a pilot and aviation enthusiast. What I saw was no known aircraft. The fact that it emmitted no sound was really unsettling. I extinguished my cigarette and went inside my house as soon as it passed. I always thought people who saw ufo’s were lying attention seekers or ignorant people not clued up on aircraft.

Object seen over Table View/ Sunningdale

Report:

It was below the cloud line travelling in a north westerly direction, the sun was reflecting off it so that it had a very bright silvery shine. We could not make out what it was. We thought maybe a very large drone. Then it made a U turn and climbed high above the clouds and seemed to be making it’s way back towards the city. The sun caught it on and off the whole time. Definitely not an aeroplane.

Strange Bright light

Report:

. Tonight just after 6pm 26-04-2018. Riversdale, Meyerton. My daughter noticed a bright object coming towards us. She jokingly said look the aliens, she is only 10 so I looked and almost immediately realised that it was not the normal Boeing going towards OR Tambo. I ran and looked at the bright orange/red light moving at probably the speed of a jet. It was at a height of +- 500m and was absolutely silent. It passed us and I kept on following it as it moved in an easterly direction. There was no green or red light or a light flickering indicating that it was an aircraft. In the distance I saw a Boeing heading south and the objects lights went out and back on two or three times. When its lights was off I could make out a solid dark shape which was definitely not a plane. I would love to know if anyone else saw it.

Last night around 7.30pm while climbing out my car a light in the night sky caught my attention, not thinking anything of it(it was a constant red light basically like a aeroplane, with a faint flashing light)as it was moving in a straight direction.as i was walking to the gate i noticed that it had stopped in a stationery position.i stopped dead in my tracks and focused my attention on the light making sure that what i was seeing was really happening, and it was.it had stopped.i then called my girlfriend who was already inside the house, at that moment the light began to move slowly 90degrees of its original direction until i couldnt see it past the silhouettes of nearby trees.it had roughly stayed stationery for about a minute or so.its not the first time I have seen strange lights but not quite like that before.

Dark flying wing

Place: Olivedale

Report:

Smoking outside and saw a dark unlit wing pass silently overhead. The wings joined in the middle at 90deg, non-tapering and about 5 aspect ratio (ratio of wing width to length). No engine sound and almost not visible. Difficult to determine height but speed was about 5 deg/second. First time seeing something like this and time is not exact. Out of sight before I could get phone. The wing was going south to north and above Cooper College sports ground.
