Since I was a young child, I’ve been curious and cautious about the existence extraterrestrials. I’ve seen numerous baffling things in the skies, but believe I saw my first UFO in December 1999 just before I turned 13 in Silverton, Pretoria. As a friend and I laid on the grass watching the stars, we saw a twinkling object moving irregularly fast and jaggedy. It was very, very high up and appeared to be a star or satellite at first, but certainly was not. We watched it for about 10 minutes and when I finally got up to retrieve my camera it zoomed away. It was strange but not entirely life altering.
In February 2005 at around 8PM, when I was in matric, during an athletic event at my school in Garsfontein, Pretoria, my school mates and I saw 7 or 8 bright green lights not too far away and relatively low. They were moving very slowly either further away or higher up. Pretty soon everyone in the stands were pointing and watching in astonishment. After 20 minutes they we were out of sight. Most “rational” people made it out to be planes practicing formation for a local air show, but to this day I’ve never seen that colour on any plane. The time of night and speed of movement was also inconsistent with their theory. A video of this is available on YouTube.
On 8 December 2011 during the Pretoria Lawn Bowls’ Christmas social, a friend and I were standing outside next to the club house when we saw an unidentified flying object in the sky. It was hovering very low and not too far from us. It was pitch black like a shadow, round with no lights or sound. The only way we saw it was by the bright lights on the bowling lawn illuminating the sky. My dad plays for the club and I immediately phoned him to come outside. He’s a very skeptical man, but even he was unable to explain it. It disappeared as suddenly as it appeared.
